Featured Ministry

cindy2Cindy Beall is a Christ follower who enjoys watching HGTV, college football, hanging out with her sons, and sitting on her back porch sipping coffee with her husband, Chris.

Since 1995, Chris has been in pastoral roles at three different churches in three different states with Cindy ministering alongside him. After living in Texas for most of her life and in Memphis, Tennessee, for four years, Cindy now resides in Edmond, Oklahoma; they have three sons between them.

Cindy will tell you very openly about the near death of her marriage in 2002 when a startling confession of infidelity and pornography addiction from Chris nearly took both of them out of ministry forever. God had other plans as He usually does. They have returned to full-time ministry where Chris is on staff at LifeChurch.tv.  Cindy is a wife and mom who loves to write on her blog: CindyBeall.com.  She is also writing a book about their story.  They minister to couples who have found themselves on the same road of pornography and infidelity.

Cindy Beall will be speaking on: Protecting Your Marriage

Making proactive choices in a reactive world.  It’s easy to think that infidelity and other unhealthy relationships “would never happen to you”.  Almost everyone who commits adultery thought that, too.  Join Cindy as she shares some biblical wisdom and practical advice about keeping your marriage from becoming another negative statistic.

CJ-IMG_3007Growing up in Ontario, Carolyn (AKA Cj) had a difficult time in her teen years with self-esteem issues and a severe acne condition. Things changed when she moved to Toronto for college and was scouted by a modeling agency. They saw something in her that no one else had.
After several years in the modeling industry and many lessons learned, good and bad, Cj moved into a different place in her life–one of fulfillment and purpose. She toured across Canada with Campus Crusade for Christ speaking in high schools, encouraging teens to reach out for excellence in their lives. This is where she met and married her husband Dustin. They now live in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan and have two beautiful girls ages 5 & 7.

Cj has designed and taught a self-development course for girls, is the founder of the Beautifully Created Girls Conference, and now has her first book published, What Makes You Unique? Discover the Truth or Believe the Lie, which won the 2008 Canadian Christian Writing Award in the Young Adult Category and is currently working on two more books.

Cj has appeared on 100 Huntley Street, It’s a New Day, CTV News, co-hosted The Drew Marshall Radio Show, and has been featured in numerous magazine and newspaper articles.

Cj has a gift of encouragement and bringing out the best in women of all ages. She has a passion and desire for women to live all aspects of their life with and on purpose.

CJ-frontcoverWhat Makes You Unique?

Winner of the 2008 Canadian Christian Writing Award in the Young Adult category!

Why am I here? What is God’s plan for my life? Why did God make me the way I am? These are questions that everyone asks at some point in life, but especially teenagers. The teen years are a rollercoaster—friends, boys, peer pressure, parents—where do you turn?

This book is written especially for teen girls who are searching for answers about life: girls who struggle with the desire to be themselves and the fear of being different. In particular, it is for Christian girls who want to know how to be unique in a world that praises conformity and who want to be Christ-like in a culture that is quick to label Christian teens as self-centered snobs or geeks.

Join CJ Carleton for a heart-to-heart talk about what it means to be a young Christian woman in today’s world. She draws from Scripture, her personal experiences growing up, and her years of working with teen girls just like you to help you build a firm foundation for your life in the truth of Christ and the Word of God. Let her challenge you through journaling and self-discovery. Get ready to learn about yourself and fulfill God’s purpose for His unique creation—you!

I am so excited to offer a Bible Study based on the book that I wrote for teen girls- “What Makes You Unique?Discover the Truth or Believe the lie.”

Teen girls can join in from their home computer from any where in the world and watch me via live-streaming video as I teach and we study each chapter with PowerPoint presentations, live chat, polls and live discussions as we discover how uniquely we have been created. Starting September 2010.

Sheila Wray Gregoire’s first session is titled Affair Proof Your Marriage

Okay, that’s a sensationalist title. None of us can ever guarantee that our spouses won’t cheat. But we can do a lot to build fences around our marriage so that it’s a lot less likely! In this seminar, we get very practical. Men and women are different. We have different weaknesses. We are drawn to different things. We yearn for different things. And we need to be aware of these danger zones so that we can build proper fences against them!

Learn why it matters that men crave respect and sexual intimacy, and women crave love and emotional intimacy. And then in this talk, we’ll look at practical ways that we women can make sure we go to the right place for our love and emotional intimacy. And we’ll learn how we can help our husbands receive what they need!

Sheila Wray Gregoire’s second session is titled What’s Up With All These Headaches?

Honey, I have a headache tonight. You’re out of luck. Or maybe HE’S the one with the “headache”. What do you do when your libidos don’t match? Can you increase your own libido? Or, as more and more women are finding, can we help our husbands to get more “in the mood”? In this very funny and very practical seminar, we’ll get really honest about libido blockers, both for women and for men. And we’ll learn how to increase the intimacy quotient—and the fun quotient—in your marriage. If you’ve felt alone because you wonder if anyone else has these problems, then come on over and laugh, cry, and learn with us as we talk about how to make the physical side of our relationship all that God intended it to be.

cherylCheryl Hammer is the author of Charlotte Marries a Vampire (CMAV) novel. She’s also the faith-based filmmaker of The Stopping Place as well as the upcoming webisode series of CMAV. A former TV reporter, magazine journalist, publisher and entrepreneur, she’s the mother of four children who now resides in the Dallas metroplex.

Cheryl accepted Christ as her Savior at the age of 7. Hearing John 3:16, she knew, even at that young age that God had called her as one of His own. He’s been continually faithful to keep her near him no matter how far she strayed (and often that was far away!). She’s blessed with four beautiful children now ages 15, 16 going on 17, 19 and 23. Through a difficult journey of losses, God has gently led her out of the valley and to a mountain filled with hope. She seeks to share with compassion to others through entertainment ministry that He is awesome in providing blessings in abundance and she is one humbled example.

CMAV Book JacketCharlotte Marries a Vampire

In this allegorical tale of sin, modern-day Southern belle Charlotte Stephens turns 30 and thinks God needs help when it comes to finding her a mate for marriage. Despite the assurance of loved ones that God does have a plan, Charlotte unknowingly finds romance with a vampire who happens to be on the prowl for a taste of mortal love.

After a 24-hour courtship dipped in Charleston’s coastal charm, Charlotte marries even though the groom says he suffers from a rare sleeping disorder and is only available sundown to sunrise. Charlotte simply shrugs it off to the fact that every newlywed couple has their woes.

Soon Charlotte’s dream marriage becomes a yoke of unequal proportions and a preview to what happens when acting on feelings, not faith.

Cheryl’s topic is: When Marriage Gives You a Rewrite, Write the Happily-Ever-After Ending!

Ever wish your love or life could be like the ones on the big screen – you know, where love seamlessly comes together at the end despite all the battles and conflicts in between? Well, Hollywood borrowed the foundation from the Master Screenwriter and once you understand the structural elements of the screenplay format, you’ll enjoy honing the craft in your own life or marriage.

Whether you’re currently married or waiting on marriage, you’ll find these elements provide a framework for you to understand how to write your happily-ever-after story with God as your Executive Producer no matter what rewrites of the season are thrown at you. Other terms like Bookends, Show not Tell or Come in Late, Get out Early are as applicable to marriage as a carefully woven script. Jesus said He came to give us life and to give it more abundantly. In other words, He wasn’t talking a 12” B&W TV life. No matter what life edits, God empowers us to choose a life and marriage as large as the silver screen.

I’m a wife to Toben for 18 years (you can read more about our journey together at “Our Crazy Marriage”—a blog we write together that talks more specifically about dealing with mental illness in marriage), a mom to Audrey (11) and Emma (9). Joanne will be speaking on: When The Storm Strikes

On our wedding day we made vows to last “as long as we both shall live”—for better or for worse, in sickness and in health, for richer or for poorer. But if we’re honest, we’re hoping for one end of the extreme more than the other. We’re hoping for smooth sailing.

But storms can strike out of nowhere, leaving us reeling and feeling lost and out of control. So what do we do when a storm hits out of the blue and for better becomes for worse? When health becomes sickness? When our riches vanish? How will we respond when we find ourselves smack dab in the middle of where we don’t really want to be?

That’s where I found myself when my husband went through a crisis of faith, life, and love in 2003. As he suffered through agonizing depression, alcoholism, and mental illness, I found myself feeling lost and alone, trying to maintain some sense of normalcy for my young daughters. In the midst of Toben’s crisis, I discovered a deeper dependence upon God and learned to listen for his voice whispering to my heart, “Peace. Be still.”

In this session we’ll examine the story of Jesus calming the storm found in Mark 4. From it, we’ll discover what God has to teach us about the storms that upset our marriages and how he teaches us peace and dependence on him alone through them.

dari2Dari Mullins, co-author of Galloping the Globe and Cantering the Country, has been homeschooling her three teenagers for over ten years. She fell in love with history and geography when beginning to research home education in 1995. Dari and her husband, Allen, have taught their children at home since the oldest started kindergarten in 1997.

Dari realized early that traditional textbooks were not the route she wanted in the education of her children. Dari utilized the notebooking and unit study approach from the very beginning. This passion for non-traditional methods led her to write curriculum for her own family and eventually teaming up with Loree Pettit to write Galloping the Globe and Cantering the Country.

Aquiring knowledge about the different methods available enabled Dari to be a help to many homeschoolers even while her children were still very young. Her research and love of learning allowed her to serve on the board of one of the largest homeschool support groups in NC for five years, serving as chairperson for three years. She began to put together workshops and seminars on topics that would benefit a wide array of individuals. She currently stays busy speaking for various support groups, conferences and conventions throughout the United States.

Dari and her family currently live in Asheville, NC where she teaches several classes and stays active with the local homeschool community. Dari has a passion for sports and remains active with Western Carolina Athletic Association, a group that provides junior and senior high homeschooled students with organized team sports. She has jumped into the world of social media marketing and helps small companies, organizations and non-profits capitalize and gain maximum exposure using this new medium. She is currently working for Bright Ideas Press, publishers of Mystery of History and other great titles, as the project manager for their new all-inclusive curriculum, Illuminations. She remains dedicated to helping homeschool families prosper and delight in learning together.

Galloping the Globe

Word searches, mazes, maps and more…clues, puzzles, and animals galore! What an enchanting way to learn geography – a unit study/discovery learning resource entitled Galloping The Globe. This geography based curriculum is geared towards the K – 4th grade children. It can be used from 1 – 3 years and covers all 7 continents. Incorporating the student notebook approach, Galloping The Globe integrates 8 categories of learning activities:

* Basic Geography
* People/History
* Literature
* Science
* Activities
* Internet Sources
* Bible

The lessons are designed to engage the children’s hearts and minds through variety and interaction. Keeping the notebook will only serve to encourage creativity as they become accustomed to producing a lasting product while experiencing hands- on learning. Most of the literature will be found at your local library, but a few resources are recommended for purchase if you plan to complete most of the suggested activities. (Considering God’s Creation is the core of the science lessons.)

This is a wonderful introduction to world geography using a notebooking approach to learning.

Cantering the Country

Saddle up your horses and strap on your thinking caps! Learning geography is an adventure! And it’s not just about memorizing facts. Geography ties together all disciplines of learning in one fascinating package. From the authors who brought you Galloping the Globe, we are pleased to offer its U.S. counterpart, Cantering the Country.

This unit study course teaches a wide range of academic and spiritual disciplines using the geography of the U.S.A. as a starting point. Learn about each state—its geographic features, its history, and its interesting characters—and tie in language arts, Bible, science and civics at the same time. With this course, you won’t have to put aside one subject to make time for another. They’re all connected! This comprehensive unit study, which can be used for all children grades 1-6, takes three years to complete and includes all subjects except math and spelling.

Learn science by studying the state flowers, trees, animals and birds. Cover language arts as you read literature set in each state. Build character by learning to apply the principles of the preamble to the constitution of each state. Bring history alive with the stories of famous people, founding fathers, and Native American groups from around the country. At the end of the course, your child will have a head full of knowledge and a notebook that he or she has created, full of wonderful information and fun memories.

One of the greatest features is the excellent book list provided for each state. This valuable information can be used for years to come for any study of U.S. geography or history. Many recommended books are available from the library. A few are used repeatedly throughout the year, and we try to keep them stocked. Check out our website or call for more information.

In addition to the 250+ page book, you will receive a CD-ROM packed full of reproducible outline maps and activities. Two to four activities per state include word searches, crossword puzzles, find the twin, state maps, and other fun puzzles dealing with subjects relevant to each state. This CD is included with the purchase of Cantering the Country or is available separately. Is excellent to use with any U.S. geography study.

Dari will be speaking on: Be a Wife First

Sometimes it seems impossible to juggle all of our responsibilities and still be a good wife. Often our husbands are overlooked or taken for granted, but one of the keys to a successful home is a strong marriage. One of the keys to a strong marriage is a positive physical relationship between husband and wife. This topic is not often spoken of in Christian circles, however we are confronted with it on a daily basis in the media and advertising . We are bombarded by the world’s view of physical intimacy, but what does God say about this issue? Come listen and learn how to be a wife first and enjoy your marital relationship. **Note: This workshop will not be graphic, however it does deal with a very private marital issue therefore no men or children should be around when listening to this session.

leighann2All about Leigh Ann Napier

My (more often than not) Happy Family

I’ve been married to my hottie hubbie Mike for almost 6 years now.  We have a 3 year old daughter and are having fun trying for our second child…  Oh, and we also have our first adopted “child” Chloe… a beautiful mutt we believe to be a mix between a lab and a great dane but she came with no proof of her gene pool.  She has terrible table manners and doesn’t play well with others but she’s stuck with us and vice versa.236

I love being a wife and a mommy and also getting to work from a mobile office.  I’ve been known to do a radio program while praying that Chloe won’t bark and Halle Kate won’t wake up from her nap, I’ve written blogs and a book during breaks from hide-and-seek, naps, and while my daughter played at preschool.  I adore the never-a-dull moment and not-sure-what-will-happen-next schedule.  I am doing what I was created to do and I love every minute of it.  My main mission is to bring glory to God with all that I do and to help make the world a better place, one happy marriage (and family) at a time.231

Happy Marriage cover-thumb(3)Happy Marriage: A Christian Gal’s Guide To a Happy, Life-Long Marriage

Did you ever wish your husband came with instructions? If you think his remotes and gadgets are confusing just wait ‘til you take him home and try to figure him out. You will need back-up girlfriend!

Inspired by the confusion she faced after her own wedding and culture’s “disposable spouse” mentality, Leigh Ann Napier tackles marriage as it relates to scripture in search of answers. Happy Marriage offers 7 main areas where we all need to “get it right” with our spouse.

No, your hubbie doesn’t come with his own instruction manual and no two marriages are exactly alike …but… if you apply the principles in this book, you are building a strong foundation for a Happy, Life-Long Marriage! You’ll have to ask your hubbie how to work the remote…

Leigh Ann’s topic is: Happy Marriage:  A Christian Gal’s Guide to a Happy Life-Long Marriage

After counting over 11 divorces in my extended family I realized that Houston we have a problem…

With half of marriages ending in divorce and those children of divorce growing up and getting married themselves, it’s looking like it would get much worse instead of better.  We need to change our course and quickly if our marriages are ever going to make it.

And then I realized, I don’t want to just “make it” in my marriage.  I want to enjoy my husband and my family and actually like the man I promised to love for a lifetime.  I want a happy marriage.

And then I thought, if I am experiencing all of these internal arguments around marriage, I’m sure there are other women having these same thoughts.

* Women whose marriages aren’t in crises mode (not yet anyway)
* who just want to know HOW to be married,
* how to do life with their husband in a way that will last
* And yes, in a way where they can be happy!

So, if that describes you, I’m so glad you found me.
During this conference, I will show you three areas that will increase the “happy” in your marriage! So whether you’ve been married a while or you’ve yet to walk down the aisle, join me as we take a look at how you can set your marriage up for success.  My hope is that my experience and the lessons God is teaching me will be a blessing to your marriage.  Consider this your official invitation to journey with me into a life-long Happy Marriage!

heidi

Heidi Plumley has been married to John for sixteen years and they have four children. She and her family have lived in East Asia as missionaries for the past eight years. (In fact, all four of her kids were born in different countries overseas, a very stretching experience!) Prior to living overseas, Heidi worked as a Certified Public Accountant in Memphis, TN but still calls Florida “home.”

Heidi and her family return to the states this summer on furlough and she is looking forward to finding a bra that doesn’t poke her under the left arm and downing four year’s worth of buttery grits. You can follow her adventures on her blog Moms, Ministry, and More.

Heidi will be speaking on:  Empowered Sexuality: Targeting our sexuality with the Truth of God’s Word

Does God care about our sex lives? You bet! Our sexual satisfaction can skyrocket when we understand that God not only created our sexuality, but has a divine purpose for it. This session will start by looking at one of the overlooked biblical purposes of sex-that good sex glorifies God. We will then move on to applying specific scriptures to our sex lives. We will be challenged to commit our sexuality to God, to rely on His energy when ours is ebbing, and to trust Christ to turn our areas of weakness or woundedness into our area of testimony. By targeting our sexuality with God’s Word, we can be set free to bless and be blessed in our sex lives.

Patty Wysong is a stay-at-home, homeschooling mom of five, but don’t let that fool you. Since she surrendered her pen to God she spends much of her time doing what He put on her heart—writing for His glory. From the corner of her living room she juggles life, writes devotionals for Exemplify and At the Well, blogs on her own site, and runs Adding Zest with her partner in crime, Heidi Plumley.

When Patty left Bible college she had exactly what she wanted: a husband. And what a husband he is! Jim has kept Patty on her toes for over 20 years as only opposites can. He is a source of constant encouragement and sharpening in every area of her life. Marriage has not come easy to them, but through God’s grace, and a boatlaod of perseverance, they’ve done more than just survive.

Through her writing, Patty has found the extraordinary God in her ordinary life. You can find her online at her personal blog Patterings, Adding Zest and on Facebook when she’s procrastinating or playing.

Patty will be speaking on : Passionate and Purposeful Intimacy – Practical ways to put the passion back in your marriage

Where has all the passion gone? When we were first married, passion ran high, but life has a way of eating away at us, leaving us exhausted and pulled into pieces. Join Patty for some practical ways to put the passion back in your marriage.
